CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap
Thursday, January 26, 2017
5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
The Iron Yard - 1721 Saunders Street, Columbia, SC
Join us as we screen the documentary, CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap, a film that exposes the dearth of American female and minority software engineers and explores the reasons for this gender gap. CODE raises the question: what would society gain from having more women and minorities code?
This screening is part of the national effort of The Iron Yard to bring awareness and make direct impact on the diversity gap within technology. The Tech Opportunity Fund is a partnership of organizations committed to increasing access to technology education for all. The Fund is designed to remove financial barriers for people who are underrepresented in the technology industry, including women and people of color. Students with financial need are encouraged to apply to receive a full-tuition scholarship to attend a full-time, immersive code school and take the first step toward a fulfilling career in technology. Applications will open January 2017.
A brief panel discussion and Q&A will follow the screening of the film. Food and beverages will be provided.
